Remarkable Brain Healing
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the most established, most verified, safest, most effective medical technology for brain healing available. This technology has been perfected by nearly 100 years of research and development. Decades old theoretical principles of how HBOT promotes healing in the brain and body are now being understood with advancements in neuroscience research using innovative technology.
-
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) technology utilizes primitive biological survival mechanisms to initiate a regenerative response on the cellular level. At the core of this is the production of hypoxic induction factor (HIF). The production of HIF initiates the production of new stem cells and the creation of new blood vessels. The brain receives incredible benefits from this healing cascade.
-
Most research applications of HBOT for brain healing have shown that 40-60 sessions are needed to promote significant healing to reverse cognitive decline. This usually takes place over the course of 3-4 months and improvements continue to happen for many months after the course of treatment has ended.
-
HBOT will heal brain injuries both old and new. Regardless of how recent the traumatic brain injury or cognitive decline has been happening, HBOT will work to improve neuronal metabolic function, create new brain cells, improve circulation with the creation of new blood vessels, and reduce inflammation. The body is amazingly resilient, even old injuries can heal.
Research on HBOT for Brain Healing
A wealth of new, cutting edge research with newly established neuroscience technology is demonstrating the effectiveness of HBOT for brain tissue regeneration and repair. This has wide-ranging implications on traumatic brain injury, various forms of dementia, long- COVID, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many neurodegenerative conditions.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment—From Mechanisms to Cognitive Improvement
Biomolecules, Oct. 2021
Irit Gottfried, Nofar Schottlender, Uri Ashery
This comprehensive review was published in the October 2021 edition of Biomolecules. This review discusses implications for HBOT use for cognitive improvement due to various brain injuries and disorders. The article discusses the following mechanistic actions of HBOT: improvements in mitochondria function, neurogenesis (the creation of new brain cells) angiogenesis (the creation of new blood vessels), stem cell proliferation, decreasing neuroinflammation, and neuroprotective, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic activities.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for mild traumatic brain injury persistent postconcussion syndrome: a randomized controlled trial
Medical Gas Research, Jan.-Mar. 2020
Paul G. Harch, Susan R. Andrews, Cara J Rowe, Johannes R. Lischka, Mark H Townsend, Qingzhao Yu, and Donald E. Mercante
This randomized controlled trial demonstrated statistically significant improvements in postconcussion and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms, memory, cognitive functions, depression, anxiety, sleep, and quality of life in civilian and military subjects with mild traumatic injury and persistent post concussion syndrome( mTBI/PPCS) compared to controls. Improvements persisted at least 2 months after the 40th HBOT session.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of HBOT on overall cognitive functions of post-stroke patients in the chronic stage. The nature, type and location of the stroke were investigated as possible modifiers. The study showed HBOT induces significant improvements in all cognitive domains even in the late chronic stage. The selection of post-stroke patients for HBOT should be based on functional analysis and baseline cognitive scores rather than the stroke type, location or side of lesion.

This randomized, sham-control, double blind trial evaluated the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT or HBO2 therapy) on post-COVID-19 patients with ongoing symptoms for at least 3 months after confirmed infection. Clinical outcomes were associated with significant improvement in brain MRI perfusion and microstructural changes in the supramarginal gyrus, left supplementary motor area, right insula, left frontal precentral gyrus, right middle frontal gyrus, and superior corona radiate. These results indicate that HBOT can induce neuroplasticity and improve cognitive, psychiatric, fatigue, sleep and pain symptoms of patients suffering from post-COVID-19 condition.
